PostSubject: Guilds & Influence in Guild Wars 2    4/6/2012, 11:46 am

This post deals directly with your GW2 Guild Page and your guilds Influence (points) and how u can gain Influence and how u can spend your Influence.

INFLUENCE:
Influence is the currency which guilds spend to purchase boons and other guild-wide upgrades. Influence is earned by participating in events, PvP or solo content while representing a guild. Coin may also be exchanged for influence at the Guild Promoter (see below).
The guild interface showing current influence and possibilities or spending influence.

GUILD PAGE
The first thing that you see when you open the guild tab — if you currently aren’t representing a guild — is the Guild Join screen. It shows a brief explanation of what a guild is and lists all of the guilds that you have been invited to. Even if you haven’t accepted an invite, they will still be listed under the Account Guilds drop-down menu. From there you can choose between representing the guild or ignoring the invite and permanently leaving it/removing the invitation.
Once you’ve chosen to represent a guild, you will start to gain influence as you play. The more you socialize and group with your guild during leveling and other activities, the more influence your guild can gain.

What Influence is good for:
Below the Roster tab is the Upgrades tab and within it you have four different categories:

Politics
Politics represents things such as PvE influence gain buffs, guild emblems, guild armor and weapon contracts and guild party items.

Art of War
Art of War is pretty self-explanatory — you’ll find WvW and Structured PvP buffs and influence gains, less-costly siege weaponry and suits.

Economy
Economy has only a few upgrades (presently), however they’re still highly useful for a growing guild. This tree houses your karma, experience, magic find and gathering buffs.

Architecture
Architecture represents the bones of your guild, the upgrades that truly support your guild no matter what stage of growth you are in. They are things such as your guild bank, bank expansions and the ability to build more than one upgrade at a time.

The BUILD QUEUE
Each upgrade takes a certain amount of time to build, ranging from 16 hours to one week.
If you’re willing to pay the price, you can reduce the build time by 25% for a good chunk of guild influence.
If you find yourself a little light on influence, you can always hit up the Guild Promoter (a Guild Promoter is a type of vendor who sells influence points for your Guild in exchange for coins) in each major city. He’ll sell you some booze to “donate” to the inhabitants of Tyria.
And here is how the Guild Promoter works
>Toast to the Guild - For the cost of a few drinks we'll toast your guild and increase the guilds influence by 10 points. Cost: 10 Silver
>Drinks on the House - Purchase drinks for the nearby villagers, compliments of your guild. This will increase the guilds influence by 100 points. Cost: 1 Gold
>Drinks for the City - Enough alcohol to share with the entire city. A night of celebration of everyone's favorite guild. This will increase your guilds influence by 1,000 points. Cost: 10 Gold
>Drinks for a Week! - The citizens of the surrounding area wont soon forget your guilds generosity as you host a week of revelry and celebrate your achievements. Increases the guilds influence by 10,000 points. Cost: 100 Gold
Note: Above purchases come from Nolan in Divinity's Reach. Promoters in other cities may be worded differently.

Spending Influence
Influence can be spent in the guild interface in different categories. Each Tier is listed below, u cannot skip Tiers (go straight to Tier 2 and skip Tier 1). Also, u must learn the first Upgrade listed (the Research Level) for each Tier first. The listings show the particular Upgrade, then its Effect(s) and followed by the Influence cost and the Time it takes (real-life time) before it starts to take affect or be able to be used.

Unfortunately,
No information has been released yet as to the actual Guild Halls themselves, at least none that i can find.
Also Unfortunately,
I have also been unable to find any text on the collation between the value of Coins themselves (their frequency and quantity from drops) and how that value stacks up to "purchasing" Influence from a Guild Promoter to make any manner of assessment as to it being worth it to use a Guild Promoter to gain Influence.
But, aside from that,
I hope this has been an educational post for u on this form of "currency"

I am sure of this much though....
That guilds them self will be a HUGE part of GW2
And i think that that is a good thing Smile
